Help us grow Buxworth Cricket Club
Buxworth Cricket Club, is nestled in the Buxworth Basin with beautiful views of Cracken Edge and Eccles Pike. Buxworth Cricket club has been running for 173 years after being founded in 1848 and in this time produced some exceptional cricketers, possibly the most notable being Alan 'Bud' Hill who had a distinguished career as first class cricketer from 1972 - 1986 scoring more than 12,000 runs at an average of 30.89. Bud is still an active member of the club coaching many of our junior cricketers.
We are a small village club that is family orientated with a drive to grow and develop junior cricket within the local community. We are fortunate to have an exceptionally good junior setup and run All Stars Cricket (ages 6 - 8), U9, U11, U13 and U15 cricket and are introducing further junior categories in 2022.
The club is run and managed by volunteer members of the club who give up their free time to not only see the club survive but aspire to see it thrive at a time when many village cricket clubs are closing their doors.
To keep the club going and draw new players from the community we'd like to develop the club infrastructure and playing facilities particularly focusing on making improvements to the club facilities. As part of the drive to improve our facilities we'd like to upgrade our existing scorers hut, improve the clubhouse by repainting it, repair the changing rooms and replace the existing furniture within the clubhouse. To start making these improvements to our facilities we need to raise £6,500.
Any contribution you are able to make to support the club in its ambition to make the improvements would be welcomed.
If you'd like to learn more about our club and its rich history you can watch a few interviews with some members of the club which were created by the Derbyshire Cricket Heritage Foundation.
