Help Us Help Each Other (For BIPOC Creatives)
Donation protected
Our community is hurting. We’re raising money to help assist our community of BIPOC creatives that have been impacted by the closures of many safe spaces and sources of income (which we fully support, but acknowledge will and HAS hit our creative community hard, in addition many local businesses.) We're asking for our community's support in raising funds to help alleviate some of the stress that our community members are now facing, as a result of the closures surrounding the COVID-19.
We are only as strong as our community!
Shades Collective (est. 2019) is a multidisciplinary collective dedicated to fostering mindful, equitable, and intersectional exchange and scholarship.
We are aware of the broader communal challenges faced by the dismissal of intertwined systems of oppression and our collective is primarily focused on examining the experiences of BIPOC who are in personal or professional positions of creativity or cultural/art critique, whether or not they consider themselves artists or designers and regardless of experience or background. We recognize those who create and design in ways that have not been traditionally recognized by academia, the art world, etc.
Our mission at the present time remains an active commitment to challenging the limitations created by racial, patriarchal, and socio-economic oppression, specifically for creators and educators of color (not limited to, but with a particular emphasis on the Baltimore community.)
