Help us help Lahaina

Aloha Friends & Family,

We want to start by thanking everyone who has checked on us over the past week and grieved along with us for the unthinkable loss Lahaina has suffered. Our home was spared and our family is safe, but we have many friends who have lost everything. Some of you have already sent donations directly to us to help our friends and others have asked for advice on where to donate funds. For all of you who have given, we thank you for caring about our community and her people.

There are several large-scale organizations helping take care of the towns' needs, yet none have the ability to give specific care at a personal level. That's the gap we're currently filling. For example, a bike for a friend who lost his home and his car, but is still going to work. Or new tires on a truck that were badly damaged driving through the fire. Tools for a friend who lost it all, but is eager to get back to work. We’ve talked this over as a family and have decided to create this Go Fund Me as a way to say yes to your kind and generous offers to help people we know.

We have friends who don’t qualify for government assistance, who didn’t have insurance, who are grieving too much to even fill out the paperwork. These are the friends we are holding close and keeping an eye on. These are the people we’d love to be able to help. This is going to be a marathon and not a sprint, and we are in it for the long haul.

Again, thank you for the outpouring of love and concern. We are committed to helping Lahaina rebuild and appreciate your partnership in protecting the people we love and the place that we call home.
