On June 2, 2021, Emily, Jim, Hank and Sully experienced a devastating and unexpected loss, when Emily, who was 32 weeks pregnant noticed her baby wasn’t moving as much as he had been. She was brought to the hospital, where it was determined that baby James was not oxygenating. She underwent an emergency c-section. James Joshua Nagy was born on June 2, 2021, 8 weeks earlier than expected. It was immediately known that something was gravely wrong. James was swollen, unable to breathe on his own, required chest tubes, and was dependent on a ventilator. After needing to be resuscitated twice, Emily and Jim made the horribly difficult decision to hold and comfort their sweet baby in their arms until he passed away. It was determined shortly after birth that baby James had a heart condition known as Ebstein’s anomaly, which typically develops around 7 weeks gestation and worsens as the baby grows. This heart defect went undetected throughout Emily’s pregnancy, so losing baby James so close to her due date was a complete shock to everyone. Numerous people have expressed a desire to help Emily, Jim, Hank and Sully during this difficult time. Emily’s coworkers have started this page so that anyone who wishes to help are able to. While we know that no amount of money can take away the pain they are feeling, the money raised will help take away the financial burden associated with their unexpected loss. It will allow Emily to be off work as long as she needs to be, to spend time as a family, and help to cover any medical bills they have incurred.
