Help us help these Ukrainian refugees families!

Dear friends!

After Jordan and I took in three Ukrainian families seeking refuge from the Russian invasion of Ukraine, we received so many messages of support and willingness to help us help these families.

While we are willing to take on the physical and financial costs of hosting, as we are committed to having them stay with us as long as required, your offers of help are very much appreciated.

I also wanted to tell you a bit about the families and how they came to us.

When we first heard that Russia invaded Ukraine and experts were saying that upwards of 5 million people would be seeking refuge, Jordan and I knew we would need to do what we could to help them. We are privileged to be living in my parents' big house in Konstancin, which is just south of Warsaw. I posted about our willingness to host people in our home on various websites and Facebook, and within a few hours, I had requests to take people in.

The first family is a 31-year-old woman named Jana and her two children, a 3-year-old son and a 4-month old daughter.

Then I got a call about two families who had been taken in by a distant relative. However, they were all crammed together in a small one-bedroom apartment, and they were hoping to find them a place, hopefully together. The two women, also both 31, Lila and Luda, are cousins and between them have an almost 10-year old girl, an 8-year old boy, a six-year-old boy and a 22-month-old girl. We knew how important it would be for them to stay together and decided we'd make the room.

I don't want to use their pictures here for privacy reasons however, I will be posting updates and showing bits of life with them, with their permission, on my Instagram account, @kasia_mamamedstudent and Facebook.
