Help us help Ziggy's Recovery & Ongoing Care

Donation protected

On April 27th, 2023, Lee (aka Ziggy) was working on the roof of his RV and sustained serious injuries after accidentally falling off from the roof to the ground.

He was transported to Mountain Vista Medical Center in Mesa, AZ for evaluation. After a cat scan and X-rays were completed, it was determined he had multiple fractures.

His injuries consist of:

  • fracture in his right lower leg
  • fracture in his pelvis
  • torn ligaments in his right shoulder along with excessive structural damage, (which will require surgery)
  • fracture of his C2 vertebrae per CT scan.

It was ordered to move him to Scottsdale Osborn a Level 1 Trauma Center (Scottsdale, AZ). Upon arrival to their ER he was directly taken to ICU where he remained for 24 hours to stabilize. He was then transferred to the Telemetry Unit for an additional 24 hours.

On May 1st, Lee was discharged with a MJ collar to keep his neck stabilized and with the condition of being closely monitored by a friend who is a healthcare professional since he would be on restrictions. Lee is slowly recovering with Physical Therapy, and requiring multiple follow up X-rays and MRIs for his injuries.

Lee is a disabled Vet and is therefore on limited income with his SSDI (Social Security Disability Income). This GoFund me account is being set up to assist him with the post-hospitalization expenses that he is starting to receive. His low monthly income only allows for daily living costs.

We (Deb and Terry) have made a commitment to Lee to get him to all his doctor appts and testing, since he is restricted from driving at this time. Many of his Physicians are at least 45 minutes away because he was taken to a trauma facility in Scottsdale, Arizona. Close friends are trying to help pay things periodically, but the medical bills are starting to mount up as we receive them in the mail. We are trying to be proactive to accumulate funds so we are prepared to pay his bills. We are asking for people to help us support Lee by donating any amount you feel you can.

Prior to Lee’s fall, he was a dedicated caregiver for the horses at Good Shepherd Healing Ministries Horse Rescue Ranch in Apache Junction, AZ. Lee moved on the property of the rescue for the sole purpose of helping Maria (the owner) with the rescue.

We thank you in advance for any assistance that you can give Lee to get him through this.

Sincerely,
Deb & Terry Ricketts,
Lee’s friends and caregivers
