Help us honor Derek Richmond

Hi, my name is Leah and I’m fundraising for my friend Derek. As most of you might know, Derek was diagnosed with stage four stomach cancer in early 2020 and has been fighting bravely. Last Friday on 1/21/22 he went to his regular doctor appointment and they immediately admitted him into the hospital due to a bowel blockage. His body can no longer handle a surgery so they are just trying to keep him comfortable at this point. I can’t imagine how much pain he’s enduring. Derek has been through more than we will ever know in the last two of his 40 years. He tried his best to hide his pain from everyone so that we wouldn’t feel sorry for him. Derek is the type of person that makes friends wherever he goes and he’s tried his best to live life to the fullest despite his terminal diagnosis.

 

At this point in time he’s been told that he has a couple weeks to live. I’ve been able to talk with him about his final wishes. In typical Derek fashion he wants his funeral to be a celebration of all the great memories we’ve been so lucky to share with him.

 

If you could find it in your hearts to donate or share, we want to make sure that Derek gets the funeral and burial that he’s wished for before he’s finally put to rest. We thank everyone for all the love and support that you’ve shown Derek during this difficult time.
