About Tom
Tom is survived by his loving wife, Charmaine Miller, and their cherished children, Ellie Marie and Calvin Claude. Also left to honor his memory are his devoted parents, Dr. Dennis Miller and Mrs. Jo Miller, and his dear brothers: Dr. Dennis Miller Jr. and fiancée, Laura, with their children, Ashley and Colton; Christian Miller and wife, Olya, with their son, Sasha; Dr. Peter Miller and wife, Molly, with their children, Phillip and Samuel; and Joey Miller and wife, Danielle, with their children, Alora and Logan. Tom also leaves behind many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends, all of whom he considered family.
From his early years, Tom was celebrated for his humor, storytelling, and steadfast dedication to loved ones. His faith, which grew profoundly during his cancer journey, brought hope and inspiration to everyone around him. He showed us the power of resilience and unwavering belief in the face of life’s greatest challenges.
Tom was a proud member of Long Green Baptist Church, where he deepened his faith through Bible studies and enthusiastically volunteered for Vacation Bible School (VBS). He often encouraged others to experience the warmth and support he found in his church community and through his faith.
A lifelong sports enthusiast, Tom had a passion for soccer and baseball. He played and coached soccer for years and embarked on a memorable quest with his brothers and friends to visit nearly every Major League Baseball stadium in the United States, with just six remaining on his list. As a devoted Manchester United fan, Tom traveled to England several times to see his team play and contributed to soccer podcasts and articles. As a coach to Ellie and Calvin, Tom inspired countless young players, earning admiration from children and parents alike for his dedication and strategic coaching style. He was also a loyal supporter of the Baltimore Orioles and Ravens, having grown up attending games with family and friends.
Tom graduated from Baltimore Lutheran (now Concordia Preparatory School), where he served as student body president, excelled in soccer as a top scorer, and led his team to a championship in 2001. He later attended Goucher College, majoring in psychology and creative writing, before pursuing a master’s degree in architecture at the Boston School of Architecture. These experiences shaped his diverse talents, which he applied to his career in project management.
Tom’s journey took him across the globe and to every U.S. state except Alabama, fulfilling lifelong dreams alongside his loved ones. His travels included Germany, Sweden, Denmark, Russia, England, Italy, Spain, Finland, and Israel, where he and Charmaine reaffirmed their faith through baptism in the Jordan River and renewed their vows in Cana.
Above all, Tom cherished his roles as a husband and father. His greatest joy was creating memories with his children and teaching them life lessons they will carry forever. He shared an enduring love with Charmaine, his best friend and life partner. Every decision he made was with his family’s best interests in mind, and the impact of his love will remain with them always.
