Help Us Improve Child Care in New York

Our names are Charlotte Sanders, Sophia Montenegro, and Jadyn Ingwer. We are a part of the Global Scholars Program at Byram Hills which allows students to develop a topic on an issue that they are passionate about and make change. The issue we have decided to focus on is the lack of child care in New York.

The lack of child care is a critical issue because it directly impacts families' ability to work, affects economic stability, and often places a financial burden on parents, particularly women, while also influencing early childhood development and long-term societal well-being.

The solution we’ve created is to hold an event that spreads awareness, raises money, and encourages people to volunteer at Mount Kisco Child Care Center in the spring. The event will be educational, provide opportunities for advocacy, and incorporate a lottery.

We are asking for supplies for the event. For example, funding for lottery prizes such as gift cards and board games, lottery tickets, and letter-writing supplies.
