A reliable friend. A mentor who inspired many. The people's person. Fearless, ambitious, and full of life. Irreplaceable.

On the early morning of August 10, 2024, our beloved Xzaviera “Zave” Ballenger-Jahsi—wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend—tragically passed away just two days before her 46th birthday. Her husband, Gary, was awakened by a sudden noise and found Zave unresponsive next to their bed. Despite his immediate call for help, the paramedics were unable to save her. Zave's passing in their family home, surrounded by her husband and their four young boys—ages 9, 4, 2, and almost 1—has left everyone devastated and in disbelief.

The suddenness of her passing has left an overwhelming and heart-wrenching void.

Zave had always dreamed of a large family. After enduring years of difficulty conceiving, she and Gary were blessed with their miracle baby, DJ, born prematurely. Zave fought fiercely to save DJ’s life, and her love for him led them to become foster parents. They later adopted two sons and welcomed another little boy who was just 5 days old into their care. Additionally, she lovingly helped raise her beloved bonus twin children from the age of 7.They were eagerly anticipating finalizing the adoption of their youngest son this October, a moment that would have completed their family.

Zave was renowned for her compassion and dedication to helping others. She was a passionate therapist who devoted her life to fostering children and supporting families. Her dream was to open her own Marriage & Family Therapy practice, a vision she and Gary were working towards together. Gary, a school teacher, had taken time off work to support this dream and help care for their young foster children.

As the family faces this unimaginable loss, we ask for your help in honoring Zave’s final wish by supporting the completion of the adoption of their youngest son and assisting Gary in raising their four boys.
