Help Us Keep Dan's Promise

Donation protected
Our son-in-law, Dan Robinson lost his battle with terminal Stage 4 lung and lymphatic cancer on March 25 2017. He was husband to our daughter, Zenovia, and father to five children whom he promised to always take care of, no matter what. We are all heartbroken with this loss.

My husband, Ted Stensrud and I are more determined than ever to help Zen keep Dan’s promise for him and make sure their family is taken care of. We are updating and reposting our gofundme page to continue our request for your support as Dan worked mostly abroad for the last 20 years, so did not accrue enough Canadian work hours to qualify for govt death benefits for his family. He had no life insurance policy.

Zen recognizes that this means her and their five children (Maria (17) Adrianna (11) Amalia (10) Milo (7) and Isaac (20 mos.) are going to have quite a number of financial challenges in the near and not-too-distant future.

All the support that has been given has been wonderful. We are so grateful to every single person who has helped. We ask if you could please share this campaign link wherever you feel it may find voice and gain renewed support.

Zen and Dan met and became best friends in the 1990s at Dalhousie University in Nova Scotia. They lost contact with each other when they both branched out to explore the world after graduating. In 2012, they reconnected on Facebook and began a worldwind romance which culminated in an engagement that Christmas. Zen had escaped an abusive marriage in 2010 and was supporting herself and four kids by running a daycare in her neighbourhood. Dan had been working in various places around the world, mostly the states, and was living in Florida when they reconnected. Once he was able extricate himself from work commitments there, he moved to Saskatoon to live with Zen and the kids. He became an instant hit at the Daycare and was very quickly embraced by Zen’s kids as their Dad. Zen and Dan had their fifth child, Isaac, on August 1, 2015 and were married this past summer, 2016. They started making plans to eventually buy a Bed n’Breakfast in Nova Scotia. But cancer has put an end to this dream and many more.
Zen’s daycare was called “Village DayCare”, because she believes in the concept: “It takes a village to raise a child.” We are asking you to be our village and help us support Zen and the kids. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for whatever you can donate.
