Help Us Keep Grandpa Nick (Papa) in His Loving Home
Donation protected
Hello everyone,
My name is Craig Kyle, and I am reaching out to you with a heavy heart and a sincere request for help. Our family has been hit hard by a recent tragedy, and we need your support to keep my beloved grandfather, Nicholas (Nick) D’Amico, in the home where he has found so much joy and care.
About Nick
Nick, or Papa as many affectionately know him, is a remarkable man who has touched countless lives over his 102 years. A dedicated furniture salesman for over 50 years, Nick moved our family from Houston to California to support my aunt's Hollywood dreams, always putting family first. He later found joy working as a Marshal at Whitsett Golf Course, where he met and befriended people from all walks of life, judging them by their kindness rather than their fame or fortune.
Nick is a loving father and grandfather who stepped up to fill the father figure role for me when my parents divorced. His generosity, warmth, and unwavering support have been the cornerstone of our family's strength. Even after suffering a stroke at 95, which took his ability to walk, his sharp mind and wit remained intact, bringing laughter and wisdom to our lives.
About Bonnie
My mother, Bonnie Mulholland, inherited Nick's love for people and tireless work ethic. As a single mother, she worked incredibly hard, first in high-profile roles and later in real estate, to provide for our family and ensure my grandparents were well cared for. Her dedication allowed my grandfather to move into a retirement community where he receives exceptional care and remains mentally and emotionally stimulated.
The Situation
On June 11th, our family was devastated by the sudden passing of my mother. She had been the financial backbone for my grandfather's care, ensuring he never missed a payment. Now, that responsibility falls on me. As the sole provider for my family of four, including a daughter starting her first year of college, we are stretched beyond our financial limits, creating an expense we cannot absorb on our own.
Why We Need Your Help
The retirement community where my grandfather lives has been his home for the past five years. The staff and residents there are like family to him, providing 24-hour care that has enabled him to thrive and enjoy life even after his stroke. We believe that with your help, Grandpa Nick can continue to receive the care he needs and deserves, allowing him to celebrate his 103rd birthday this December in the place he loves.
We are aiming to raise $30,000 to cover six months of care for my grandfather. Every contribution, no matter the size, will make a significant difference. Your support will help ensure that Grandpa Nick can remain in his loving home, surrounded by the community that has become his second family.
How You Can Help
Please consider donating to our GoFundMe campaign. Your generosity will directly support Grandpa Nick's care and allow him to continue living in the place that brings him so much happiness. If you are unable to donate, we would be incredibly grateful if you could share our campaign with your friends and family.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness and support during this difficult time. Together, we can make a difference in Grandpa Nick's life and honor the legacy of my mother, Bonnie.
With heartfelt gratitude, Craig and Family
