Help us keep Louie Avila Jr’s legacy alive
Today our family is mourning the loss of our beloved Louie. To the world he is just another statistic in the fight against Covid-19 but to us he was a father, brother, husband, uncle, cousin and friend and his loss has left a giant hole in our hearts that can never be filled. Our world is a little bit more dim without his shining smile among us.
The Back Story
Back in December, Louie tested positive for this dreaded virus. He started experiencing several symptoms and had to be admitted to the hospital. After a few days, he started feeling better and was released only to end up back in the hospital the following day.
Over the course of the week that followed, the virus viciously attacked many of his vital organs: his lungs, his heart and his kidneys. Doctors told us he was considered one of the sickest patients in our county but they remained hopeful. He spent the Christmas and New Year holidays all alone in a hospital bed. Eventually he had to be intubated and transferred to another hospital to be placed on an ECMO machine. Still the hope remained that this move would give his lungs and heart time to heal.
Louie had so many people praying for his recovery but despite our best efforts and that of his wonderful doctors, God had other plans. On Friday night he was called home.
Where your donation will go
As many of you know our family has been devastated by loss over the last few years. We have lost our father and mother and now our dear brother. We would love — more than anything — to give him the farewell he deserves.
Louie leaves behind four children: Marcelo (21), Sebastian (20), little Louie (15) and Iviannah (12). Anyone who knew him, knew his kids were the loves of his life. His eyes sparkled when he talked about them and how proud he was of them. We would like to be able to help provide for them the way he always planned.
Thank you
We are forever grateful for everyone who has stood by us during this very difficult time. We wish to extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who has said a prayer for our brother, has offered an encouraging word to our family and has considered donating to our fundraiser for Louie’s farewell and his children’s futures. We cannot express how much your support has meant and continues to mean as we navigate this extraordinary loss. Thank you with all our hearts.
