Help Us Keep Singing for Peace & Justice
Donation protected
The Covid pandemic has been financially hard on the Santa Cruz Peace Chorale - as it has on most musical groups. In 2001, we founded the choir in response to the rush to war after September 11th, and have continued singing for peace and social justice for the past twenty years under the direction of singer/songwriter Aileen Vance. The Peace Chorale is a non-audition choir, a cooperative community in which everyone is welcome to sing.
While Covid put a damper on our singing in public, we've continued singing in one form or another over the past three years. This year we plan to put on a concert once again, sponsor a film in the Reel Work Labor Film Festival, and sing at more political actions.
Unfortunately, we've fallen far behind in the funds needed to support these efforts, and we are faced with the possibility that our chorale may not be able to continue singing together, responding to injustice, violence and prejudice through music.
Member dues have never been enough to completely support the choir. Members pay what they can, whether more or less than the suggested amount. We don't turn anyone away.
Because of the pandemic, we haven't been able to undertake our usual fundraisers, so we are asking for your help. Please contribute to keep this beloved community institution afloat and allow us to carry on our mission of promoting peace and social justice through singing.
