Help two abandoned mommas and their kittens!
Hi. I'm Victoria Sturman. My family and I live in a rural part of Orchard Park, NY.
These two mommas were abandoned in rural Orchard Park, NY, in August of this year. They were under-fed and extremely affectionate.
After three days of them hanging out near our house, we decided to take charge. It was obvious to us that someone had raised them and acclimated them to humans. Other than being hungry, a little emaciated, and having some fleas, they seemed in pretty good health.
We took them to a local vet for scanning - no chips were found. Both are females who had not been spayed. They are between 8 months and a year old. And surprise, surprise...they were BOTH pregnant! We also reached to various lost pet social media sites with no success of finding owners.
Our deduction (along with the vets) was that someone had DUMPED them. You see, the rescues in our area are full to capacity and are not taking any more kittens or cats at this time.
Instead of taking responsibility for them, they drove them to our area (lots of fields, farmhouses, some barns, and houses) and threw them out like garbage.
Our hearts are breaking for them. They are so friendly and loving. We did attempt to turn them over to several rescues, but as I said no one will take them. We are animal lovers and couldn't sit back and not do anything, especially with colder weather upon us.
We are not heartless, but the people who abandoned them certainly are!!!! My two sons (12 & 11) have already named them: Stripes & Socks.
We have been lucky enough to connect with a foster mom through our vet. She's not affiliated with a pet rescue, but took both mommas and has fostered them through their pregnancies, absorbing most of the cost.
Now we are in the process of making sure all nine babies AND the mommas have all their shots and are spayed/neutered before they go to their forever homes.
But it's been an expensive road and not one that my family or the foster mom had planned for so we're reaching out to our friends, family, neighbors, and kind-hearted strangers for some financial help.
Anything you can do to help will be kindly accepted. No donation is too small (or too big, lol).
We are looking to raise between $900 and $1,000. The money will go toward vet bills and helping offset any costs to the foster mom.
Sharing is caring, so thank you for sharing this fundraiser with family and friends through social media, email, or text: http://www.gofundme.com/f/help-us-keep-stripes-socks-healthy we'd appreciate it!!
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Victoria, Steven, Alex & Henry.
