On July 4, while traveling to our first DCI performance of the season, severe weather caused the truck pulling one of our trailers to leave the road and end up in the ditch.
Most importantly, we are incredibly thankful that everyone involved walked away with only minor injuries.
While the truck was covered by insurance, the trailer and its contents were not.
The trailer carried our food service equipment and merchandise for the season. Although we were able to recover some merchandise and a handful of food prep items, the trailer and much of its contents are a total loss.
The support we’ve received from the drum corps community has been overwhelming. Your messages, encouragement, and offers to help have meant so much to our members, staff, and volunteers.
After assessing the damage, we’re now working to replace essential items as quickly as possible so we can keep our members fed, our tour moving forward, and our season on track. We are looking ahead to identify what the needs of the fleet will be after the immediate season needs have been met.
Thank you for standing with the Govenaires. Every word of encouragement, every share, and every donation helps us continue doing what we love.
Ride on, Govies!
Update; We are truly overwhelmed by the incredible love and support you’ve shown through this fundraiser. Because of your generosity, we’re on track to replace our kitchen and food service equipment—an essential step in keeping our season moving forward.
Our next focus is replacing the trailer that was lost from our fleet, which will help us continue traveling and serving our members throughout the season.
