Help us launch Parkrose Coffee Shop!
Hi neighbors! We are Lily and Peter (and baby Julia!) and we live in Russell. We love this community. It's where we have chosen to start our family and plant roots.
Like many of you, we love a lot about our neighborhood (particularly the people who live here!) we just wish there were more things we could walk to. We want more spaces where community members can get together, chat with neighbors, hang with their kids, and make new connections. We thought long and hard about what we could do to create a space like this and have decided to open a coffee shop in Parkrose!
Having the idea was exciting! Finding a spot where we could do it proved difficult (have you noticed our neighborhoods are all zoned residential except for major thoroughfares like Sandy Blvd and NE 122nd? Us too...) But with some patience and the help of the local biz whizzes at Historic Parkrose, we have found our home!
We just signed a lease at 4826 NE 105th Avenue (behind the Parkrose Ballroom and a half block away from Sandy O's and Parkrose Hardware!)
This space offers the possibility to build so much more than just a coffee shop:
- inviting, accessible indoor space with a perfect kids' corner
- back patio for outdoor seating
- grassy area for garden beds and beautiful landscaping
- space for local art shows and community gatherings
- enclosed courtyard for community events (movie nights in the summer anyone?)
- off-street parking & bike parking
That's what we know this space can blossom into after a lot of hard work, community support, and trips to the ReBuilding Center.
Please join us on this adventure! Over the next two months, we will roll up our sleeves to make the space beautiful and inviting for you all - and raise funds to help cover the expensive startup costs. We hope to open on March 1st and will update you on our timeline!
