Help Us Lay Dennis (Mathews) Kingman to Rest with Honor

Adding insult to injury, Bo had just cashed his paycheck the day before he was rushed to the hospital, and during his hospital stay( 2 days) and before he sadly passed away, his wallet came up missing, which was in his hospital room the entire time. His freshly cashed paycheck was in his wallet, of course in cash , his Social Security card, ID, bank card, you name it, It was in there. Since Bo was pretty reclusive, he only had a grand total of five visitors, including myself. And no one was in the room alone besides his mom, and All of his belongings would go to her ensuring it was not her ( not that we ever thought that) and the other visitors were not left unattended. Which leaves hospital staff. Which is extremely disappointing, Disgusting and heinous! It’s starting to look like we’re never going to be able to find out who stole it. Let alone get it back! Which is extremely devastating.
I'm writing this with the heaviest of hearts since I'm having to do something I've never had to do. I never thought I'd have to ask for guidance in maneuvering through all that comes with a celebration of life so soon. My brother Dennis (BO MATHEWS) Kingman was at work when he had a fatal heart attack on August 21, 2024, it was his Birthday as well. It was unexpected and sudden.

Dennis had a very challenging life ever since he came into this world he has had to fight for his life. As an infant, he wasn't able to eat on his own due to a medical condition which was the first time the universe tried to take his life. That was when our family first realized he was special, as he beat the odds and survived his 1st brush with death. When we were kids, I was 4 and he was 6 years old. I witnessed him get run over by a car as we were riding our little red tricycles in our apartment driveway. That day changed our lives.

Dennis was taken to the hospital with his tricycle impaled through his body. He was in a full body cast for a year. Confined to his bed, he didn't speak the time, until one day we were watching our favorite cartoon “Inspector Gadget”. Out of nowhere I heard “go-go gadget helicopter”. I started crying because he had beaten the odds for the second time. His life unfortunately would be a challenge for our entire family as he had to learn all aspects of his life all over again. Mentally, he was 6 years behind caused by his traumatic accident. He was bullied all throughout school, eventually causing him to drop out of school.

Without a diploma, he knew he needed to find a way to learn a skill. So that's where he decided he wanted to try Job-Corp. He would move away from the safety net of home and try to live on his own for the first time in his life. He excelled there, gaining multiple certificates (stone masonry, flagging). He made us all proud. As we got older, the loss of our grandmother, the rock of our family who raised Dennis since he was an infant, took a significant toll on him more than any of us. He was lost for many years, not knowing what to do and not wanting to do anything. I had to be the one to help my older brother out with everything in life.

As he suffered so much emotional and physical trauma in his life, it was my goal in life to help him get everything he could out of this world he wanted. He finally got a job again after years of doing nothing. He held down his longest tenure of any job he had to this point, it was almost a year. Not as long as one would expect but everything he had been through in life, it was an accomplishment that he never thought he would be able to do. Then he landed his favorite job he never knew he needed. Becoming a Seasonal light installer for TROSS. Lights gave him purpose again and it gave him a great sense of pride as he took in with his work. He worked for a year then took off the next year ultimately coming back to work 3 straight seasons, this would have been the 4th.

He took pride in helping out everyone he knew and helped take care of our mother who he lived with. The most unselfish person I've ever known. Would give a stranger the shirt off his back, I saw it happen multiple times. On his birthday, it was the best birthday he had in my memory. He was in great spirits as we went to work. Then while working, he had the major heart attack. All of the challenges he overcame in his life, this one would turn out to be his last dance. My role model, big brother, and my best friend is now gone from this world and on to his next chapter. I want to give him a burial of a KING !! Like the Kingman he is! Long live his spirit and energy. He's missed by many, and more than he ever could imagine! I am grateful beyond measure to anyone able to help us lay my brother Dennis to rest, and celebrate his life. Losing him forever is the hardest part, figuring out the financial part is the second. Anything helps, honestly, just taking the time to read and share our story helps so much.
