Help us leave Florida due to Anti Trans Laws

Hello everyone. I’m Eli, and my fiancé is Lucas. We have been together for almost 6 years, but for even longer we have been transitioned medically. I am almost 8 years on T, and he is 7 years on T. In our day to day, being trans isn’t a conversation, it is just another part of who we are. We pass in society and live our lives happily, as our true and genuine selves.

But because of the new laws that have passed in Florida, our lives are about to be disrupted and it is very likely both he and I will lose our access to life saving, gender affirming care, forcing us to detransition. This can have negative consequences for the both of us, as our bodies revert and go through change once again that does not align with our true selves. More importantly, these changes in laws also make Lucas and I moreso at risk of being victims of potential hate crimes because the state is so red.

We are grieving. We will be leaving so much family behind so quickly, and we truly do not want to leave. But we have to put our livelihood first, so we will be uprooting to Rochester Minnesota, where trans protections are codified into law and we can live with truth, with pride, and dignity. The biggest challenge we face is that we will need to leave as soon as possible, and both Lucas and I work full time jobs yet still barely make enough to save because rent and bills are so high. So we are asking for your help to assure that we can make the leap for our own well being as we make another transition outside of ourselves to a new place we can call home. $10,000 is a number we chose because it will allow us the wiggle room to ship our belongings, and make the drive up to our new location once we reserve a place to rent, as well as helping with any fees and hotel stays as we make the drive with our furry and scaly babies.

This was not what we wanted to do as Lucas and I are firm believers in grinding to make things happen and make ends meet, but things are changing quickly and we must take action. We appreciate and love everyone who can even just spare a dollar or a share.
