Help us make a movie: Duck Rabbit

Grown Up Costume Party is bringing you a new comedy film featuring a cast and crew of some of the greatest artists in Colorado Springs.

My name is Michael Lee and I've been an artist in Colorado for most of my life. A few years ago, I started a film company with my colleagues, Christian O'Shaughnessy and Bob Morsch. The company is called Grown Up Costume Party, and we have produced the web series 'The Now Show with Jack Belle' and the feature film 'Venus in Cancer', which just completed a festival run, winning awards from New York to LA.

I wrote a screenplay in the spring of 2021 while in the midst of social and creative deprivation. It is one of those movies with a lot of characters all floating around and bouncing off of each other over a single day. There are four primary stories with many shared characters. The stories include a play in rehearsal, a girl overcoming writer's block, three idiots carrying a couch across town while under the influence of a psychedelic, and a kid looking for a missing chicken. There are lots of clownish sequences with classical music. The working title is Duck Rabbit.

We will begin filming throughout the spring and some of the summer. We are running a long campaign to cover our production costs and are raising 10,000, a third of which will go toward production costs and feeding our cast and crew, a third of which will go toward paying our cast and crew and a third of which will go toward post-production costs and festival fees.
