As many of you may know, we have once again found ourselves in a battle with Kate’s health. In addition to battling Muscular Dystrophy her entire life and then surviving a devastating car accident in 2018, Kate was found unresponsive at home on December 26, 2020. She was rushed to the hospital and was eventually diagnosed with COVID and was placed on a ventilator and in an induced coma for a period of time, which led to a tracheostomy. Kate is fighting hard to get back to normal as she does daily “sprints” in which she breathes with very little to no assistance from the ventilator for 2 hours, 3 times a day. However, she will be on the trache for the foreseeable future as it is a very slow process. We would like to get her out to enjoy the things we all take for granted like sunshine, but her current manual wheelchair is unable to fill her special needs while on the trache and the insurance will not cover the costs of the modifications needed. We are asking for assistance in the cost of those modifications so Kate can get about in her wheelchair. Any funds collected will be strictly used for the wheelchair. Anything left over will be used for Kate’s everyday care. Any help, no matter how big or small would be greatly appreciated as we just want to give Kate the best of everything after all she has been through!!!
