Help Us Move to Safety: Protect Babygirl
Donation protected
Hello!! My wife and I have been raising her granddaughter for the past nine years. We took emergency custody of her and removed her from a situation of alcohol and drug abuse, where she was neglected. She is my heart!! We live in South Carolina, which has now become an unsafe place to be, thanks to the incoming administration.
I was recently verbally accosted and assaulted because people are emboldened against the LGBTQ community. I am often mislabeled as transgender because I am an old tomboy. I was alone this time - but what if Babygirl is with me next time?!?
With the removal of any protections that are forthcoming, it is blatantly obvious we need to move to a safer state that has offered protections.
I fear for our safety here now and an even greater fear that the state will come to take her away because "she isn't safe being raised by lesbian women." We won't have any protections here in SC!
I can't simply run off without being able to care for Babygirl. If it was just me, no problem; but I have them to provide for and protect as well.
I know there are probably many people in the same kind of situation and that's so frightening!! It should never have come to this - but here we are.
Anything you can offer, to help me get them to a safer place, would be deeply appreciated.
