NAM NAM is a queer, anti-capitalist community space in Noborito, Tokyo (technically Kanagawa, we know) Our core values are queerness, art and anarchism. With everything we do, we seek to challenge traditional power structures, promote social justice and build community.

We are planning a strong program of events such as artist residencies, live music performances, book clubs, mutual aid fundraisers and much much more.

As well as an event space, NAM NAM will operate as a cafe and bar where people can gather, eat, drink, and engage with like-minded individuals. NAM NAM will be a place where people feel safe and welcome, knowing that their support also supports local artisans, producers, and farmers fairly and equitably.

We are a group of passionate, experienced individuals who have found an affordable space that we are excited to transform into a vibrant and inclusive community hub for the LGBTQIA+ community and beyond

What will your donation support?

・Initial costs of refurbishing the space: eg. paint & repairs

・Equipment eg. coffee machines, fridges

・Furniture

・Initial inventory & consumables (everything from food and drinks to takeout cups)

We are aiming to open our doors in July and any contribution, big or small, will help us get closer to our goal of creating a much-needed queer community space outside of Tokyo's famous gay district.

What does NAM NAM stand for?

At NAM NAM, we seek to embrace the fluidity and diversity of queer identity, and our name reflects this ethos.

While it may stand for Noborito Art Market, it can also represent our commitment to a New Artist Manifesto, or our belief in creating a Nurturing And Meaningful space for the LGBTQIA+ community.

About Mayo (they/them):

Mayo is a dedicated co-organizer of Tokyo Queer Collective, who is deeply committed to creating spaces for the queer community.

About Nadina (she/her):

Nadina loves art and fashion. She spends her days working as a video producer, and her free time building creative community as the founder of Get Sh*t Done Club.

About Beto (he/him):

As well as his work as an Art PhD and curator, Beto has been working tirelessly to support the homeless population of Tokyo for over 7 years as part of the NGO "Minna no gohan."

In addition to our work on NAM NAM, we are also affiliated with Tokyo Queer Collective (TQC), a collective dedicated to uplifting the voices and experiences of queer people in Tokyo.

TQC has been a key source of support and guidance for our team, providing resources and connections to help us build the queer community space of our dreams. TQC hosts a range of events throughout the year, focused on everything from art and activism to community building. By working in partnership with TQC, we hope to create a strong, intersectional network of queer folks and allies in Tokyo, centered around the values of anti-capitalism, creativity, and community care.

For transparency:

Currently, we have signed a one-year lease for NAM NAM. As we move forward, we are committed to ensuring the longevity of NAM NAM, whether it means extending our lease in our current location or exploring new possibilities. Your support will help us sustain and evolve our inclusive space beyond the initial year, fostering a vibrant and supportive environment for the LGBTQIA+ community.

NAM NAMは、東京（正確には神奈川）の登戸にある、クィアで反資本主義的なコミュニティスペースです。私たちの核となるテーマはは、クィア、アート、アナキズムです。私たちが行う全てのことにおいて、従来の権力構造を問い直し、社会正義を促進し、コミュニティを築くことを目指しています。

アーティストのレジデンス、ライブミュージック、ブッククラブ、相互援助の募金活動など、多彩なイベントやプログラムを計画しています。

イベントスペースとしてだけでなく、NAM NAMはカフェやバーとしても運営して、同じ考えを持つ人々と集まり、飲食を楽しみ、交流する場所を作っていきたいです。NAM NAMは、人々が安心して歓迎される場所であり、その場を通して、自分たちのサポートが公正かつ公平な方法で地元の職人や生産者、農家を支援することができる場所でもあります。

私たちは、手ごろな価格のスペースを見つけることができました。LGBTQIA+コミュニティを中心とした、活気にあふれ、包括的なコミュニティ・ハブにしていくことにワクワクしています。

寄付金の使用先:

・スペースの改装にかかる初期費用（例：塗装や修理など）

・コーヒーメーカー・冷蔵庫などの設備

・家具

・初期在庫＆消耗品（飲食物からテイクアウト用カップなど）

7月オープンを目指しています。金額にかかわらず、どんな寄付でも、必要とされるクィアコミュニティースペースを作るという私たちの目標に近づくための助けとなります。

NAM NAMの意味は？

NAM NAMでは、クィア・アイデンティティの流動性と多様性を受け入れることを追求しており、私たちの名前もこの理念を反映しています。

この名前は、Noborito Art Marketの略ですが、New Artist Manifestoへのコミットメントや、LGBTQIA+コミュニティのためのNurturing And Meaningful Spaceを作るという私たちの信念を表してもいます。

チームメンバーを紹介していきます！

マヨ（三人称代名詞：they/them）

マヨは東京クィアコレクティブの熱心な共同主催者であり、クィアコミュニティのためのスペース作りに深くコミットしています。

ナディナ（三人称代名詞：she/her）

アートとファッションを愛するナディナは、日中はビデオプロデューサーとして働き、自由な時間はGet Sh*t Done Clubの創設者としてクリエイティブなコミュニティを構築しています。

ベト（三人称代名詞：he/him）

美術博士、キュレーターとして活躍する傍ら、ベトはNGO「みんなのごはん」の一員として、7年以上にわたって東京のホームレス支援に精力的に取り組んできいます。

NAM NAMでの活動に加え、私たちは東京のクィアの人々の声と経験をより多くの人に届けることを目的とした集団、Tokyo Queer Collective（TQC）にも加盟しています。

TQCは私たちのチームにとって重要な支援と指導の元源であり、私たちが夢見るクィア・コミュニティ・スペースを構築するためのリソースとコネクションを提供してくれています。TQCは年間を通して、アートやアクティビズムからコミュニティ形成に至るまで、さまざまなイベントを開催しています。TQCと連携することで、反資本主義、創造性、コミュニティケアといった価値観を軸に、東京のクィア・フォークとアライによる、力強い、インターセクショナルなネットワークを作りたいと考えています。
