Help Us Sustain The Rainbow House
Donation protected
UPDATE (July 2024): Thanks to y'alls support, The Rainbow House is open and able to support up to 26 unhoused queer West Virginians. We have received WV DoHS shelter funds to run a full scale, fully staffed organization after almost a year of operating on a volunteer basis. We are so thankful for our community's support! We have chosen to continue fundraising to fill the gaps that oftentimes are not funded or are underfunded by government funders. This includes things like security deposits for folks trying to get into housing, homelessness prevention funds for queer folks at risk of homelessness, gender affirming items, harm reduction supplies, and funds for a more robust staff to support our folks after they exit shelter into housing. Additionally, this allows us to stock up on outreach supplies so that our community based case manager can provide life-saving items to folks who are on the street without shelter. We love and appreciate all who have donated.
Hello, my name is Cassidy Thompson, I am the Board President for Project Rainbow. Project Rainbow is an organization in Monongalia County, West Virginia that aims to empower LGBTQIA people while providing shelter and safety to those navigating their housing journey.
We are currently in the process of opening WV's first LGBTQIA Shelter and Safe Haven in Monongalia County. We have found the perfect location that will provide our future residents with the comforts of home as well as keep them out of harm's way while they get back onto their feet.
All we need is your help! We are looking to raise $8,000 to supplement the donations we have already received to pay for eight months of rent while we wait for grant funding to become available. Anything that we raise over $8,000 will go toward hiring staff members (we hope to hire and empower members of the community we are serving), supplies, food, insurance, and other shelter/safe haven-associated costs.
Anyone interested in receiving a tax-exempt letter for your donation, please contact our fiscal sponsor WV Can’t Wait before making your donation. Reach out to me (Cassidy Thompson) via the contact form below, and I can connect you.
On behalf of Project Rainbow, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for any donations you send, any shares you give this fundraiser or any love you show to each other.
