Help us bring our best friend home

Jasper came to live with us in December of 2022, just a few months after he was born. He quickly became the center of our lives. We spend every moment together, go on long walks out in the middle of nowhere, find playmates for him to wrestle with, anything and everything we can do to make his day as beautiful and happy as we can.

Last Thursday the center of our lives was nearly torn away. I saw him get run over by a truck that was struggling to not spin out in the snow. He seemed okay at first - shock but no broken bones, but when he laid down his gums quickly turned white as he struggled to breathe. He was going to leave us. He tried a few times until I told him that we couldn’t make this without him. He held on for nearly an hour from the impact until we got him to the vet. The surgeon took him and stitched him back together. One of the veterinarians told us that it was a miracle he made it through those doors and I have no doubt that it was. He’s a strong boy. His heart stopped on the table and they massaged it back to life. He’s ALIVE! He made it through the surgery and the recovery and he’s wiggling at us in his giant cloth cone and stitched up belly and IV bandages on his arms.

When we got him we were in a very different living situation. Life took a turn and now we can barely afford the propane to keep our RV warm in Santa Fe's winter.

I knew we couldn’t pay for this (though I had hoped we could make it in payments). But we couldn’t lose him. We’ve only had a year with him and he is our everything. We’re going through all of our old things to see what we might have of value to sell, but it won't be nearly enough. Neither of the payment plans they offered would accept us. I have no doubt that these amazing vets deserve every penny that they are asking for - more even - they saved my best friend’s life! But we just don't have it. Please, Please help us get our friend back.
