Help Us Plant 200 Trees Along the Heights Hike and Bike Trail
Picture a normal summer day along the Heights Hike and Bike Trail, the sun-soaked trail, the heat beating down with little relief. Now imagine that same trail lined with towering trees, offering much-needed shade, beauty, and a sanctuary for both people and wildlife. This is the vision we have for the Heights Hike and Bike Trail in Houston, TX, and we need your help to make it a reality.
My name is Emmanuel, and for the past two years, I’ve been planning an ambitious project to plant 200 trees along a barren stretch of this beloved trail. What started as a personal mission has now grown into a community-wide effort, backed by the support of local organizations, businesses, and neighbors who share the vision of creating a greener, more inviting environment.
In March 2023, I planted 26 trees a stretch of the trail at 8th St & Nicholson St, caring for them almost daily with hand watering. With the help of generous friends, local nonprofits, and experts from Trees for Houston, we’ve seen these trees thrive and create a diverse, beautiful canopy. Now, we’re ready to expand this effort to the Heights Hike and Bike Trail, but we need your support.
Why We Need Your Help
We’re aiming to raise $10,000 to plant 200 trees and ensuring they are watered and thrive for the next two years.
For my birthday this year, instead of gifts, I asked my friends, family, and anyone who cares about our community to help fund this project. We’ve already raised $904, but we still have a long way to go. January 25, 2024, is our planting date—chosen because it’s the optimal tree planting season in Houston and a time that holds special significance for me as it’s close to the anniversary of my father’s passing. This project is my way of honoring his memory and making a lasting impact on the community we both loved.
How You Can Help
Every donation, no matter the size, brings us closer to our goal. Just $20 covers the cost of planting and caring for one tree, and your support will help create a greener, more beautiful space for everyone to enjoy.
If you can’t donate, please consider sharing this campaign with your friends and family. The more people who know about this project, the closer we get to making it a reality.
Thank you for helping us plant roots that will benefit our community for generations to come.
