Help us prevent starvation in Goa, India Covid 19

Please help us provide emergency food rations to the poorest families connected to the Helping Hands Social Trust in Goa due to covid 19 virus.  Otherwise they risk suffering the effects of starvation and malnutrition in this incredibly difficult situation we find ourselves in   

Why? 

Poverty in India is extreme.  These families struggle to put the food on the table everyday   They go out to try and find work work each day and may or may not earn enough to provide a meal each day.  The trust assisted these families as much asthey could.  

However, lockdown in India happened without notice.  Families do not and cannot stock pile food.  As Goa closed the borders, limited food has been able to get in. Demand is high, prices have sky rocketed which means for many families even a bag of rice is out of reach.  People are not allowed to move   Police blockades are everywhere so even the trust founder hasn’t been able to go there   

We are super blessed in the UK to have help and support from families, friends, charities and the government.  Because we live in one of the most privileged countries in the world.   In poorer countries the governments do their best with the very limited resources they have. 

Poorer countries rely on the generosity of people like us sharing our blessings. Everyone deserves a basic living such as being able to eat and keep healthy.  

CAN YOU HELP US by sharing your blessings?  However small or big?

Just a few pounds will hugely help a family in desperate need. 

Kerry, my daughter, is in Goa leading a mission to help the friends of the Helping Hands Social Trust by buying food in bulk and distributing it. They have permission to do this and will be observing social distancing rules.  

We aim to raise enough to provide food for around 50 families for 1-2 weeks to get them through the worst of this crisis.  

We aim to buy basics such as rice, flour, oil, lentils and if we can vegetables.  

Any surplus funds will of course be used by the trust to continue to support thesefamilies whilst they get back on their feet.
