Help Us Provide Critical Aid in NC
Donation protected
Since the relief efforts from the Federal Government for those impacted by Hurricane Helene in western NC have been less than effective, myself and a few other veterans and men who want to put their money where their mouth is have decided to answer the call.
Organizer: Danny Wolf, SAR Coordinator assisting the families of Kim Ashby, Alena Ayers and Lenny Widawski
Since arriving here in WNC in the initial days, Danny has worked alongside USAR Teams with NC Task Force 2 until the county SAR teams were stood down. He then helped coordinate volunteer SAR operations for the families of Kim Ashby, Alena Ayers and Lenny Widawski.
Over the past few weeks, he has coordinated with Flight For Life, GB Rescue, On-Site Relief, Red Truck Men and Project Skyline to provide the families of those who still have loved ones missing with air support, vetted HRD K9s, thermal/LIDAR/sonar drones, heavy machinery, etc.
All of this has been funded using what little remained of this GoFundMe (approx $15,000 as of last update) after supplying the people of Fairview and Garren Creek with generators and material for rebuilding their roads. Going forward, all further funds will be used only for SAR operations for those still missing.
We need:
- Aviation fuel (AvGas 100 low lead and JP8) to keep these birds in the air scouting the rivers and transporting our K9s into areas of treacherous terrain.
- Diesel for large excavators to clear out these debris piles and dig through sediment so the dogs can get a scent.
- Rafts and dry suits for our SWIFT Water Rescue teams along the Elk and Nolichuckey Rivers.
- Funds to provide travel expenses and lodging for HRD K9 teams.
The window of opportunity for bringing these folks homes and providing families with closure is rapidly closing. We are humbly asking for your support so that our SAR volunteers can get the job done.
