Norberto's caregiving needs!❣️

Hello! My name is Jannira Canales. My husband, Norberto, and I have been together for 10yrs, have an 8 yr old son and were working towards our dream life.
But 8 months ago our familys life turned upside down when we found out my husband was involved in a motorcycle accident. He was wearing a helmet but hit head first into a light post causing a traumatic brain injury, spinal fractures, multiple broken bones, vision loss & more. Through his recovery he has gone through 20+ surgeries & procedures, some of which were an amputation to his right leg at the knee and below, skull repairs, brain surgery, etc.. A once independent, 31yr old, now needing 24/7 care. The first week of his recovery, doctors told me he would not survive and if he did, he would be vegetative & dependent on a ventilator for the rest of his life.
But by the grace of God, every single day we get to marvel in the miracles of of the Lord. The past 8 months I have watched my husband fight! After 47 days in a coma & 47 days in a vegetative state, he has slowly but surely began to emerge. He is breathing 100% completely on his own, was admitted into an inpatient rehab on January 12, has been trying to relearn how to speak, stand, eat, & more.
No matter how hard it is for me to set my pride to the side and ask for help, this is where me asking comes in. My husband and I were self employed, so the moment his accident happened, there was no longer any income coming in. I was with him at the hospital every single day making sure he gets the care he deserves and being his voice and now he's home where I give him 24/7 care. We've hit our first goal of purchasing a wheelchair van because of everyone's help and I couldn't be any more grateful!
I've decided to keep the GoFundMe page up because people have continued to donate out of the kindness of their hearts in hopes to help in any way for the continue care I give him. He is still wheechair/bed bound and requires full time help for all of his needs such as bathing, feeding and more so and due to caring for him I am not able to find additional employment. Fortunately he has medicaid which has helped tremendously for medical costs, but they do not cover disposables such as feeding tube supplies, vitamins, cleaning supplies & more.
Any donation no matter how small helps us! Thank you so much for being a part of our story and recovery journey!
