Help us to raise funds for Rachael
Donation protected
As some of you may be aware, just before Christmas following a massive seizure in the night, our older sister Rachael was admitted to hospital and diagnosed with grade 3 brain cancer.
This diagnosis has obviously had a massive impact on the whole family, especially on her 15 year old daughter Eva and her 2 year old son Felix.
Since her diagnosis, Rachael has undergone a successful craniotomy followed by 6 weeks of radiotherapy. She has now started the next stage of her treatment which is 9 months of chemotherapy. The gruelling nature of this treatment has meant that it has become increasingly difficult for her to care for Felix full time.
With her husband working full time, they are currently using childcare for Felix 5 days a week. Unfortunately he does not qualify for any free childcare.
Rachael and her husband both work at secondary schools. Due to the time already taken off work for treatment, Rachael’s pay has now been halved and they can no longer meet the cost of childcare with the extra hours.
We as a family do not live close enough to provide day to day help with childcare which means the only alternative that she currently has is to look after Felix at home whilst going through chemotherapy.
We would really like to avoid this so that Rachael is to be able to focus on her treatment and recovery without this added stress. As a family we are trying to raise funds to keep his 5 days of childcare going until her treatment is finished, and she can get back to some sort of normality. We would also love to organise a family holiday so she has something to look forward to.
If you are able to make any sort of donation (no matter what size), it would be very much appreciated.
