Help Us Raise £10000 to Fix the Heating System at The Bath House, Hackney Wick! (Phase one - The Building)

For years, the heating system at The Bath House hasn't worked, despite having a remarkable heat reclamation feature that could transform how we warm our space. This system is designed to capture heat from something as simple—and joyful—as dancing.

At our regular events like Ecstatic Dance, Beauty and the Beat, and Giant Steps, the energy is not just in the music and movement.

Did you know that the average person generates about 500 watts of heat while dancing?

So, with just 6 people on the dance floor, that’s the equivalent of a 3kW heater!

Now imagine 350 people dancing to groovy beats—that’s a huge amount of power! This incredible energy can keep The Bath House warm through the winter, allowing us to serve as a WARM SPACE (recognised by the Greater London Authority), offering a cosy refuge for those who may not have heating in their own homes.

By supporting our heating system renovation, you’re not only contributing to a sustainable solution but also helping us tackle the cost of living crisis, particularly for our elderly community members. Dancing and enjoying our events will directly help keep everyone warm, creating a beautiful synergy between wellbeing and community care.

We estimate that this renovation could save up to £60,000 in gas usage in the coming year alone. These savings will allow The Bath House to continue offering a space where community and local organisations can thrive. Moreover after phase one, we have exciting future plans to extend this heat-capture technology to benefit our wider community, creating a regenerative, eco-friendly heating network for our residential neighbours.
