Help Us Rebuild After a Family Tragedy
Donation protected
On September 19th, 2024, our family faced the most heartbreaking event we could ever imagine.
My family & I went on a trip to Dominica to say goodbye to my grandmother, who sadly passed on August 15th.
However, on the evening of September 19th, A fire engulfed the top floor of our home, and while Jade was thankfully brought out safely by the authorities, he was rushed to the hospital for smoke inhalation and burns to his body.
Our family is devastated. Not only are we faced with the loss of our home & our memories but Jades injuries has him in intensive care.
My dad took the first flight back from Dominica to help handle the aftermath of the fire and take care of the things.
Friends and neighbors have been stepping up with so much love and compassion.
At this point, we are trying to secure and dry the house, support Jades healing journey ahead, and figure out what to do next. A big unknown is the home insurance: (I will post updates here.)
We are heartbroken and overwhelmed, but we are determined to support each other and heal as a family.
Where the funds will be directed:
- We are facing the financial burden of rebuilding our home, which was severely damaged by the fire & water damage from extinguishing the fire.
- Pay a company to clean up and store valuables to protect the house from theft and rain (the roof is gone).
- Start to completely rebuild our home. We are hoping this will be at least partially covered by insurance, but the adjuster has been very clear that it may not.
- Help pay for a million other things that we don’t know yet
Any contribution, no matter how small, will go towards helping us:
Thank you for any support you can give—whether it’s a donation or simply sharing this fundraiser with others.
