Help Bob and Marta Rebuild After Devastating Fires

Donation protected

My name is Marta Kopaczynska. Just a few days ago, my partner and I were forced to evacuate our home in Northern Portugal when wildfires tore through the area. We had been living there for the past 10 months, working tirelessly to build a self-sufficient life. With just the two of us we made the land livable, transforming the ruins of an old stone house into storage for all our belongings that we brought with us from Holland —childhood memories collected through out the years, also building materials and tools, clothes, all of my chocolate/bakings equipments etc.

We had begun construction on a small house to live in while we rebuilt the stone house. But when the fire got too close, we had no choice but to grab our puppy dog Dali and two kittens Vaska and Pablo and leave everything behind.

Now, just days later, we are left with almost nothing. The fire destroyed nearly all of our possessions and home-in-progress. It’s heartbreaking to see what we went through, after all the hard work and sacrifice we put into creating a dream self sufficient life.

On top of losing most of our possessions and the unfinished home we were building, a large part of the beautiful forest surrounding our land was also destroyed by the fire. That forest wasn’t just a part of our dream—it was a vital part of the natural environment we were working to preserve. Watching it burn was heartbreaking, as it felt like we were losing a piece of what made our land so special and alive.

I'm reaching out for help as we try to rebuild after the devastating fires in Portugal . Any donations will go toward helping us restore our home, replace essential items, and get back on our feet. Even the smallest contribution can make a huge difference—helping us cover basic but vital needs like screws, nails, irrigation system, trees etc. Every bit of support brings us one step closer to recovery, and we deeply appreciate any help you can offer.

Please consider sharing this page with others who might be able to help, and thank you from the bottom of my heart for your kindness and support. Together, we can rebuild, and start to recover from this devastating loss.

We understand how important transparency is, and we're committed to keeping you updated on how your contributions are being used. You’ll be able to follow along with our progress, and we’ll share details on where the money is spent so you can see the direct impact of your support

Here are few photos from when we were packing all our belongings still in Holland. They were shipped on the pallets with a big truck.

Photo of our stone ruin that was our storage for the time being with all our things inside. Within 10 months we have collected double then we brought with us.

Here we have almost finished floor for our small house that supposed to be finished before winter so we can have a place to stay before working on the stone house. We were planning to work on the walls and the roof but unfortunately fire took everything.

Thats what left from our small house contruction only concrete that Bob worked hard and alone to do.

Our beloved furry friends that we took with us when evacuated Dali the dog, Pablo and Vaska cats.
