Help Us Rebuild Gourmand

In the wake and destruction of Hurricane Helene we are asking for your assistance in rebuilding our restaurant and a small piece of one of Asheville's most cherished neighborhoods, the River Arts District.

Gourmand began as a refusal to idleness in the height of COVID and our careers ending in 2020. Moving back to New Orleans from New York city we began Gourmand to bring a sense of normalcy and joy to customers so longing for a restaurant experience. Always emphasizing on European lifestyle and the joy it brings, Gourmand participated in many aspects of that lifestyle, charcuterie wholesale, private events, and a small secret bistro we operated out of our home. After a devastating loss during Hurricane Ida in 2022 we decided a relocation was necessary for the viability of our business.

Asheville has always been a sacred retreat for us, a place Katie and I have regularly visited, and a food scene we have greatly admired. We have been overwhelmed with the reception we received in this community and cannot imagine spending our lives in another town. Asheville is truly special, greatly independent, and with that requires great stewardship by its local community and that community needs your support.

Our Restaurant was set to open November 7th. During Hurricane Helene our building retained water to the ceiling, popped off its foundation, and crashed into the neighboring Brewery. It has been declared a total loss. Without the support of FEMA or our insurance company we have lost a $250,000 investment. There is no institutional path forward to us. We ask that you, our friends, family, and loyal patrons of Gourmand help us in our time of need.

All funds will be used to pay the subcontractors who worked tirelessly to meet our timeline and refinance our future location, not a salary or support for us personally. Owning our own restaurant has been our dream, we have worked endlessly over the last 4 years to achieve this dream.
