Help Us Rebuild the Farm!
Donation protected
This is going to be a general donation page for our farm, Round Hill Ranch, for those who want to support our journey and have enjoyed following our story.
We began farming three years ago, when the pandemic really shut everything down. We started by building a small chicken coop in our parents' backyard with 12 chicks from Tractor Supply- Barred Rocks and Buff Orpingtons. From there, we both knew we wanted a goat, but we needed a property to start on. We saw an ad for a rental space in Foster, RI, where we quickly messaged and scheduled an appointment.
Immediately, we both fell in love with the beautiful property in Foster at the original Rounds Farm. The history of the property was incredible, and it seemed like the perfect place to begin. One of our leaders has close family history in Foster and Scituate, and the property was so special. As with any farmers who have no idea what they are doing to start, we experienced a lot of loss, tears, blood, and sweat in those first years. We were learning everyday and figuring everything out on our own through the heartbreaks and good times.
Unfortunately, we were only renting the property, and circumstances changed to where we were "too big" for the property. The only homes we could afford to buy were in Connecticut due to the higher housing market in our home state of Rhode Island.
We now own a smaller property than before and it was not originally a farm. We are literally starting from scratch where we are now and have been using other properties to help store and raise some of the livestock. Your donations will be used to help us continue clearing the land and for the following major projects:
- Birthing barn for Nubians and Nigerian Dwarves
- Fencing for the entire property, new goat enclosures, and calf/cow pens
- Quail and chick brooding house and supplies
- Laying hen breeding coops
- Garden fencing
- Barn for calves and moms
- Hay storage
We have always made it work on our own, but we are at the point where we need some extra help to keep our family afloat. Due to some personal medical issues, our supporting income has changed, so every dollar truly matters and is appreciated.
Our goal is to eventually have our farm open to the public once there is a place to be able to do so! But ultimately, our goal is to raise our family to know how to farm and live off the land, how to live this life and learn all the lessons God has implanted in nature, and to share our passion for life, God, and the Earth with our community. We appreciate you reading and coming here to support our family.
Thank you.
*Please note, if you or someone you know is struggling with being able to feed their family, please reach out so we can offer some of our food to them. If someone is struggling with mental health, please call at any time day or night if they need someone to talk to. I will also gladly offer goat therapy to anyone who needs help*
