Help Us Remember Jeremiah's Life and how much he was loved.

My Grandson, Jeremiah Cunningham, affectionately known as JC, lost his life yesterday. He had just turned twenty one. Unfortunately JC got caught up in the streets. I wish there were words that could make this make sense, but there just aren’t. I can’t imagine the weight my daughter is carrying right now. I say to her… as his Mother, you did everything you could—loved him, guided him, talked to him, tried to steer him away from all the things that could hurt him. But the truth is, these streets are built to trap our boys. They pull at them no matter how much love or wisdom we pour into them. It’s not anyone’s fault, and it’s not his fault either. It’s the mentality of these streets that keep failing our young Black men.
Jeremiah mattered. His life mattered. His light mattered. He was more than what happened to him, and his story doesn’t end with violence—it continues with the love we still carry for him and the legacy he leaves behind. We’re all here for you. Not with answers, but with love, with presence, and with deep respect for everything you gave to him. And even though the streets took him, they will not define him. We stand with you, and we mourn with you.
