Help Us Honor John Horan with a Memorial Bench at Cranbury Park
We are reaching out to friends, family, and all who knew John Gerard Horan to help create a lasting tribute to his memory. John, born on July 1, 1950, left us on August 14, 2024, surrounded by family he loved dearly. To honor his love for Cranbury Park, dogs, and the outdoors, we are raising funds for a memorial bench in the dog park at Cranbury Park in Norwalk, CT—one of John’s favorite places.
About John Horan
John was a warm, generous soul who treasured every sunny afternoon spent at Cranbury Park’s dog park with his golden retriever, Cassie. He loved connecting with both two- and four-legged friends, sharing stories, and exchanging a laugh or two. A music enthusiast at heart, John could often be found playing guitar in his home studio, engaging in friendly battles at trivia nights, or sharing a cold beer with friends and family. Born and raised in Liverpool, England, he always held the crisp sea air of the Isle of Man close to his heart, even after moving “temporarily” to the U.S. in 1981—a temporary stay that became permanent as he raised his daughters, Jacqueline and Victoria, and became a U.S. citizen in 2016.
John’s legacy is one of love for music, joy for life, and a deep appreciation for community. His family has asked that those wishing to honor his memory donate to the Save the Music Foundation, an organization that reflects John’s dedication to sharing the gift of music. In addition to this, we believe the memorial bench will be a beautiful tribute to his life and his beloved dog park.
Why a Bench at Cranbury Park?
The bench will be a special spot for all who visit the park—whether they’re enjoying a quiet moment or spending time with their dogs. Cranbury Park was where John found so much happiness, and this bench will allow his memory to live on in the place he loved most. We hope it will serve as a gathering point for friends, family, and park visitors to sit, relax, and reflect.
How You Can Help
We are seeking to raise $3,150 to cover the costs of the bench and a commemorative plaque. Any additional amount raised will be donated to the Save the Music Foundation, helping ensure that John’s love for music reaches children in need.
