The story of Marcy Lethert:
Marcy was a single mother of three children, two daughters and a son. Marcy would do anything for her children and would put everything else below them in order to make there life the best she could. Everything she had and ever worked for was for her kids but such a lifestyle can take a toll on a person. On top of giving her all to her kids her childhood trauma didn’t help with the amount of constant stress and struggle that being divorced and raising three kids brought to her. Marcy was abandoned by her parents leaving her to the foster care system in hopes to find a healthy happy family but unfortunately it went the other way. Her adopted parents, a young mother who was not ready for kids that constantly mentally and physically abused her and belittle her for her learning disability. In Marcy’s mind she was never enough for her mom even up till her final moments she would worry about what her mother would think and how she would get criticized for minuscule things. Her father a raging alcoholic that would abuse her on the daily, that they had to flee from to gain some type of a normal life. As I had mentioned earlier she had a learning disability, social problems anxiety and depression which made it extremely difficult for her to find friends adding additional struggle as she had no one to fall back on as a kid. Later on in her childhood she would develop anorexia which unfortunately followed her into her adult life up until her final moments. Eventually she moved out of her parents to find a life of love and peace where she found the love of her life John lethert “my dad”. The two of them completed each other but unfortunately things didn’t work out and after 11 years and three kids they eventually got divorced and for the most part split ways. I would love to say that everything got better at some point in this story but it truly never did. Her past issues that she had as a kid really did follow her into adulthood and not having her other half led her down a dark path of depression and alcoholism. She would drink every day to try to find some relief from her life but unfortunately this lead to her having a liver failure but she fought through it so she could be there for her kids and after years of being in and out of hospitals she recovered and continued to provide for us. To me she was and still is the strongest and most brave woman that I have ever known. I was so amazed by how she recovered and it inspired me like nothing else ever had. I would like to say that it ends there but unfortunately despite her amazing recovery with her body, the story for her mind was different. After all the years of trauma, suffering, her mental health was basically non existent and she fell back into a hole of depression and alcoholism. Sadly this lifestyle eventually caught up with her and she developed Wernicke–Korsakoff syndrome which left her completely paralyzed and put her in a constant mental decline to the point where she was basically in a coma, only coming out of it to be completely disoriented and in a constant state of panic and fear. The doctor eventually came to us explaining how and why the treatment was not working and we “her kids” had to come together to make are hardest decisions we ever had made in our entire life’s which was to stop the care and move her to hospice care where should pass on peacefully a week later. We all miss her more than anything else in the world and struggle with learning how to live or lives without her. If you’ve made it this far I guess it’s time I introduce myself, I’m John Marcy’s only son and youngest child and at 21 yrs old I lost my mother; I was and still am completely lost as we did quite literally every thing together. We spent countless nights watching movies, talking, playing games, eating and over all just trying to make each others life’s just a little bit easier to get through. Finally I ask that if you have some extra money to spare to plz plz plz donate for my mom’s memorial service, anything helps and if you don’t have any money to spare if you could please post and spread this go fund me so we can truly have a memorial service that would represent just how amazing and wonderful our mother was; again I’m only 21 and don’t have nearly enough money to host a memorial that really represents just how great she was. As of now we don’t have an exact date, time or place but as soon as we can save enough money we will. Over all that you for reading my mother’s story and I hope you have an amazing day, thank you!
Rest in peace: Marcy Lethert
Amen
