Help us replace our beloved Marqueebo
Donation protected
Hi, I'm Sean, one of the owners of Tom's Tap and Brewhouse.
Maybe you've drunk our beer, maybe you've been to our bar, or perhaps you've come to one of our online beer and cheese matching nights. However you know us, you'll probably have heard of our trusty Marqueebo; too big to be a gazebo, too small to be a marquee. We bought it in between lockdowns to keep our customers dry when only outside drinking was allowed, and it later served as a further covered place when all our inside tables were booked. You might even have sat down and had a beer or cider in it.
Sadly our Marqueebo, despite being anchored by six-inch bolts, blew down during Storm Arwen (actually the bolts remained in situ, but the metal poles were bent beyond repair). We soon found out it was not covered on our insurance.
We had hoped to be able to fun its replacement ourselves but, sadly, the winter months don't always generate a profit with which to make such a purchase. Additionally, like many of you, we've suffered a significant increase in our electricity bill as well as increases in dispense gas and, most recently, malt; the base ingredient of every beer we make.
We also want to buy a heavier duty piece of kit so it will last longer (although we'll take the fabric off when there's a storm forecast in future), which is why we're asking for more than £1000. But we know how much our customers like sitting in it, from the regulars to the occasional visitors to the football teams that often come in for a pint after their game. We know the weather in the North West isn't always conducive to sitting outside and it will mean more of you will be able to come and enjoy what we have to offer.
Thanks for taking the time to read our story, and if you've got a bit of cash spare to donate we'd appreciate it very much.
Many thanks
Sean, Jacqui and Tom.
