Losing our home, help us return to Maine
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Liv,
I am a fertility, birth and postpartum doula, a photographer of just about everything from weddings, to birth/newborn, to real estate.
I'm also a fiber macrame artist and a podcast host, and I homeschool my daughter (8).
My husband is an experienced cook and also familiar with handyman work, and farm/nursery work.
We are a family of 5. My husband and I and our 3 kids.
Our family is desperately needing to move back to Maine due to our landlord wanting to move and letting us know with very little time, that we will need to move out, here in North Carolina. We have about 2 weeks to find a new home.
We understand moving to Maine at this time of year isn't ideal, but we are losing our home here, have nowhere else to go, and there are more job opportunities there, in Maine for us.
The housing and pay rate here is horrendous and we have been wanting to move back to Maine for years. We originally moved back to NC to help my father out but now that we are no longer doing that, we want to return home after finding out we are losing our home here and that there is no housing available.
The nc housing department and HUD told us to move out of state if possible because housing is so scarce.
When we lived in Maine before we lived in Levant for almost a year and then Damariscotta where we fell in love with the community there, the people, the landscape/seascape, wildlife and of course the beautiful ocean.
While living in Damariscotta my husband worked at Que Rico and we also had been Cyri's Sweet Breads for a short time, delivering fresh baked Guatemalan/Mexican sweet breads and cakes locally.
We both have many wonderful references and I already have 2 interviews for me as a doula and my husband has many job offers he wish he could take but cannot without a place to land for us and our 3 children.
We desperately need a place to stay temporarily while we work and search for a new home of our own.
We need atleast a 2 bedroom but temporarily we would be content and happy in a tiny home, a 1 bedroom or studio. We actually love small spaces.
We used to live in a tiny home in Damariscotta.
We have good references for renting and the type of family we are.
Again I know it's not an ideal time of year but we have no other option and are moving forward with positivity.
If you have anywhere we could stay until we find a place of our own or job leads that may include housing please let me know!
We are starting this gofund me to raise money towards moving into a rental whether it be temporary to get our foot in the door or moving into where we will finally call home.
The money raised will help us cover travel costs, any move in costs and start up costs for our life there.
While we remain in NC for a short time left, we still have to pay rent, utilities, our other bills and several therapies for our children as they are on the autism spectrum.
With our landlord only giving us a very short time and nowhere else to go, we decided to listen to some of you who commented on my post in midcoast fb groups to create a gofundme.
We truly believe we can bring a lot to the community there in Maine and cannot wait to be a part of where our hearts our home.
If you're able to contribute to help bring us home we will be forever grateful and would love to meet you someday soon. If you can not contribute but have read this, I appreciate and if you're able to, please share thus.
Thank you all for the loving words of encouragement and help looking for something for work and housing so far. This is why we call Maine home.
