Revitalize the North Fair Oaks Playground!

Welcome to the North Fair Oaks Beautification Association (FOBA) GoFundMe campaign! We are a local nonprofit dedicated to creating a safe and enjoyable environment for the children of our neighborhood. Our mission is to promote the well-being of our community, and the playground has been a central part of this effort since its establishment over 20 years ago.

However, we face a challenge that calls for your support. In 2022, we had to remove the beloved Pirate Ship from the playground due to structural instability. Fear not! We are determined to replace it with a new, safe and exciting play structure.

The playground is situated on land owned by the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission, which means we must adhere to strict guidelines related to height, weight, and depth for any new structure. To ensure we find the perfect fit, we've collaborated with a talented local artist who has created three options that comply with these restrictions while offering challenging and inspiring play experiences.

Now we need your help to make this vision a reality. By contributing to our GoFundMe campaign, you can support the revival of the playground and the well-being and happiness of countless children in North Fair Oaks.

Artist statement: The first option is an Aztec Quetzatcoatl with two heads. This piece, with three raised spaces, would let children go under it and also climb or sit on it. The Aztec design is a nod to the rich history of the North Fair Oaks neighborhood. The structure would be made of fiberglass in bright welcoming colors.

Artist statement: The second option is an interactive structure with a slide, space to go from one place to another, and two spaces to sit. This would also be made of fiberglass in bright, attractive colors.

Artist statement: The third option features an Ohlone-style canoe with a tunnel entrance and a small seating area of artificial water. The design of this structure honors the original use of the land by the Ohlone.

With your generous contributions, we aim not only to reach our initial fundraising target but to potentially go beyond it. If we exceed our goal, we may be able to install multiple structures, creating a playground that caters to the diverse interests of our young children.
