Please help us save our daughter's cat, Ames.
The last eight months have been overwhelmingly difficult for our family. Last week our dog, Beowulf, died unexpectedly. In the months before my husband, Joe, suffered a stroke, which was followed by heart surgery. I have been out of work for months due to spinal surgery and then I was injured in a hit and run accident last month. We've been through a lot and right now we're struggling financially. Which is of course when life hits us with another sucker punch.
This picture is of our cat, Ames, and our daughter, Brinley. They have been together as long as she can remember. A few days ago we discovered that he had a urinary obstruction and we spent what money we had to get him catheterized and unblocked. Unfortunately, that didn't solve the problem and he needs to be hospitalized so they can deal with things in a more significant fashion. The cost - for the procedure and several days of hospitalization to follow - is $5,100.
We simply do not have the money, to our utter dismay. It is a simple problem that could be solved if we could afford it. And yet, we can't. Which means we're going to have to put down our daughter's favorite companion for a problem that could easily be fixed if we only had the funds to deal with it. I know that life often isn't fair, but this turn of events is just soul-crushing after all we've been through so we're reaching out for help. And we have only a short window (about 48 hours) to do it.
Please help us save Ames. Whatever you can give - $5, $20, $50 - would be greatly appreciated and would get us that much closer to our goal. Ames has many more years ahead of him, if we can get him the treatment he needs.
