Help Us Save Goose: Our Beloved Cat's Medical Journey

As I sit here to write this, I find myself at a loss for where to begin.

Our kitty, Goose, means the world to us. He fills our lives with so much joy — whether he’s making us laugh with his quirky, weird behaviour or melting our hearts with his cuddles. Goose has been our constant companion, always there to lift our spirits when life feels overwhelming. His "purr therapy" has gotten us through some incredibly tough times, and we can't imagine our lives without him.

Whenever I'm away from home, I always look forward to seeing his sweet little face when I return. Goose has brought so much love and comfort into our lives, and we are endlessly grateful that he's part of our family.

Unfortunately, this past Tuesday, Goose started letting out distressing meows and began obsessively grooming himself. My instincts told me something was wrong, so we rushed him to the vet.

The diagnosis was devastating: Goose had a urinary tract blockage, a life-threatening condition that prevented him from being able to urinate. Our vet tried to clear the blockage but couldn’t, so we were sent to an emergency veterinary clinic.

After numerous tests, X-rays, ultrasounds, and multiple catheter insertions, we learned that Goose had several bladder stones that needed to be removed with emergency surgery.

In just a few days, Goose's medical bills reached over $15,000. We had to make quick, emotional decisions in the moment, knowing that we couldn’t afford the costly medical bills — but giving up on Goose was never an option. He’s our family, and we're committed to doing everything we can to save him.

Goose has now undergone surgery, which, thankfully, was successful! His surgeon is optimistic that, with a new diet and periodic veterinary visits, Goose can live a healthy life.

We are incredibly grateful to the amazing team at the Veterinary Emergency Clinic for the lifesaving care they’ve given Goose. But now, we find ourselves in a situation we never imagined—humbly asking for financial help. It’s not easy for us to ask, but we’re swallowing our pride and reaching out to our friends, family, and community to support us in this challenging time.
