Meet Millie! We hope after you hear her story you will consider helping us!

Millie is a 19 year old Moluccan Cockatoo. She is arriving at MEBS in a couple of weeks. At 5 years old she was taken in by Wild Life Rehab in South Carolina where she lived for 4 years. She was surrendered to Wild Life because her owner was moving to a smaller place. For several years she would occasionally yell out in a panicked woman’s voice “OH NO” “OH MY GOD” “DON’T” We have no idea what horrors she endured in her first five years of life.

At 8 years old in 2008 she was surrendered to SC Cares in South Carolina. She was very nervous, unsteady and moved very slowly. She began to pluck and pick at her wing joint. For years SC Cares provided extensive medical treatments, tests and veterinary care but nothing has helped this little girl heal. Sadly, SC Cares has to close due to health issues. They  provided a compassionate "no-kill/no-breed" sanctuary for abused, neglected and unwanted exotic and farm animals and non-releasable wildlife. We are saddened that this amazing sanctuary has to close their doors. 

They has asked MEBS to take in Millie and provide avian certified medical care and treatments. As soon as she arrives she will begin by seeing Dr. Fronefield at ABC Animal and Bird Clinic in Sugar Land Texas. Her new journey to healing will begin. Dr. Fronefield is the vet that treated and saved our beloved Mr. P!

Millie is a very sweet, quiet and shy girl. She loves to sing and whispers to tell you about her day! She is very unsteady and has trouble perching but loves to sit in a lap!

Her medical costs will be expensive and we are asking you to help us raise the funds for her care!
