Help us Save our Expansion.

In April we finally raised enough money and had architectural plans put together for the shop. After COVID with no in store play, we were ready to get our store addition built to provide pure play space for the community. We applied and received both a bank loan on our house and a city grant: and things were looking awesome!

Then we hired the wrong contractor. 8 months later, we have a lot of messed up work done and no expansion. Winter is coming and our 1800s barn play space is a hot mess. We have no clear way of getting back the $125K (and additional upcoming lawyer fees). We need help.

Please help us with whatever you are able to. The funds will be used to help pay the lawyer fees, help find someone else (legitimate) to finish the job, and get us back in progress of building the play space we were all so excited for. Every cent donated will go towards the construction. We don't expect to be fully funded- but anything helps, and it's important to be clear that we have already paid (well, will pay off for the next 20 years) $125,000 for something that isn't happening.

People who know us know we've tried to do everything ourselves. We've fundraised for charities through the store and through the convention. We've worked hard to build a geek community in Maine where everyone had a place to belong and find others. We've done everything we can on our own: but this is too high a mountain to climb alone. Anything. Anything will mean everything to us. To be able to afford the lawyer we hope to work with will be outstanding. To be able to find someone legitimate to finish the process. We just need help.

This isn't the only way we're trying to raise funds. We'll try to host fundraising events, we're going to work as hard as possible to increase sales, and we're going to see how much we can do ourselves. We're hard workers. This is an awful situation.
