HELP US SAVE OUR FAMILY HOME : A LEGACY AT RISK

Hello, my name is Heidi Mitchell, and I am the eldest daughter of William “Nubby/Bill” and Deborah “Debbie/Deb” Mitchell (Lyle). Along with my sisters, Aimee and Kimberly, we are facing the heartbreaking possibility of losing our family home due to a sheriff’s sale scheduled for next week. This home has been in our family for six generations, and it holds an irreplaceable place in our hearts. Losing it would be an unimaginable loss for all of us.
In 2016 and 2017, we tragically lost both of our parents within months of each other. After their passing, my sisters and I took on the responsibility of maintaining and renovating the home. Despite facing significant challenges—including job losses, mounting expenses, and shifts in our family dynamic—we did everything we could to preserve it. Then, when the COVID-19 pandemic hit, there was no relief on the mortgage, and rising costs made it even harder to stay afloat.
In the summer of 2023, we worked tirelessly to gather the funds needed to bring the mortgage up to date. By October 2023, we had the money ready, but Wells Fargo, the mortgage company, refused to accept our payment. We continued to save what we could, with Aimee working two jobs to help, but in February 2024, Aimee suffered a severe brain aneurysm. She was hospitalized for months and is still in recovery. Aimee had been our primary contact with the mortgage company, and her condition has made it even harder for us to manage everything.
In March 2024, we received a foreclosure notice, and the news has left us in a state of shock and disbelief. The weight of everything—losing our parents, carrying the responsibility of our family’s legacy, and facing the loss of our home—has been overwhelming. It’s difficult to admit, but I’ve been hesitant to ask for help, feeling both embarrassed and defeated by the situation.
In 2018, I lost my job after 20 years and used my retirement savings to help with repairs and keep the house going. But with the ongoing market instability and rising costs, I no longer have a financial safety net. That’s why we’re reaching out now—to ask for help.
We have generations of equity invested in this home, and it’s so much more than just a house to us—it’s our family’s heritage. We are asking for a miracle to help us save it.
We need to raise $40,000 by February 6th, 2025, to prevent the sheriff’s sale and stop foreclosure. This is not something we ever imagined we’d be asking for, but we simply cannot do it alone. While we have been working with agencies for assistance, the process has been slow and mired in red tape.
We understand that times are tough for everyone, and we don’t take asking for help lightly. But if you are able to contribute—whether financially or by sharing our story—it would mean everything to us. Every little bit counts, and your support will bring us one step closer to saving our home. We are committed to paying it forward as soon as we can, just as we’ve always tried to do.
This home is more than just walls; it’s the place where we’ve shared so many memories and felt most connected as a family. We just want to keep it in the family for future generations. With your support, we believe we can make it through.
Please keep us in your prayers, and know that we are deeply grateful for any help you can offer. We are walking in faith, trusting that if it’s meant to be, it will be.
With love and gratitude, Hiedi, Aimee and Kimberly Mitchell
