UPDATE
Scarlett is currently stable; the vet believes that with aggressive treatment we can save the eye
The photo of Scarlett upon presentation:

Scarlett is much more comfortable after the first few days of treatments. She is on Banamine, two antibiotics, an anti-fungal, an anti-melting serum, and a dilating medication.

The vet at CSU installed a SPL (subpalpebral lavage system) that helps us to administer her meds every two hours. A special rubber disk is inserted under the eye lid; the line is woven through her braided main. The port for medicine administration is at her withers, so we can safely administer the eye medication without a fight.

We will keep you updated as she progresses!
SCARLET NEEDS YOUR HELP!
Scarlet is a true leader, not only in her herd, but always a favorite in clinics, workshops and standing tall at 16 hands – kids love riding high upon her back in the equine assisted learning summer programs!
No doubt, Scarlet will be a favorite in the upcoming Horses for Heroes series!!
Unfortunately , Scarlett has suffered an injury to her eye. After an emergency visit from our vet on Sunday it was decided Scarlet should see the eye specialist.
Monday Scarlett went to have the condition of her eye evaluated and learn the next steps for care, she will be spending a few nights at the hospital and a plan has been set up for her eye care.
Prayers are at the top of the list
The current estimate of the unexpected medical expenses for Scarlett’s eye care and recovery is at $3500.
Any & all donations for Scarlet’s care will be greatly appreciated!
Thank you from the tips of Scarlett‘s hooves to the center of her ❤️for your support!
(Scarlet‘s eye condition will be updated as she heals up)
