Help us save Vegas Dumpsite Bunnies

Donation protected
8/25/2024 - We have been taking in a lot more deserted and medical bunnies needing medical help the last few weeks and it has drained our bank account down to almost nothing (again). We have 2 surgeries this Tuesday and 1 of the surgeries the bunny (Orange Crush) has a severe eye and neck issue (abscesses). PLEASE HELP IF YOU CAN and please SHARE either way. We are still the ONLY rabbit rescue in Las Vegas and we are OVERWHELMED everyday with requests for help. We ONLY do what we do because of all the AMAZING bunny supporters we have. To say THANK YOU isn't enough, we are so blessed to have your support. #bunniesmatter

This is Orange Crush who goes in our vet on Tuesday for surgery. With your help, we are hoping to save him.

This is Mochi, the paralyzed bunny we are helping.

This is Papa who had some type of skin ailment that we are currently treating.

8/5/2023 - Just an update - Yesterday we took in a really sweet boy who was dumped at Lorenzo Park, probably fighting for his life. He has a serious back injury and his back legs don't work, although he gets around pretty well for having such a bad injury. Today's bill was $225. For the exam and 5 physical therapy treatments, our total is about $400. Any help for his care is greatly appreciated as we don't have very much money in the bank and now we have TWO paralyzed bunnies that need physical therapy.

5/12/2023 - After today's unexpected $619 vet bill for Bun Bun, we are down to just $147 in our account. If you were waiting to donate to us, now is the time that we need it.

Ironically Ana Fisia, who is bonded to Bebe and pictured below, is currently being treated for head tilt. Now we have Bun Bun who has a bad abscess behind her left eye.

Thank you for your support and we appreciate the support everyone gives our great bunnies. #bunniesmatter #adoptdontshop

5/15/2022 -

Lots has happened since our last update at Christmas. Bebe (shown below), had head-tilt a few months ago and while she is recovered now, her head is still slightly tilted. She is the sister of Peanut, our other head-tilt bunny. Adoptions have really slowed down this year and I'm very sad to report that people dumping rabbits and people wanting to surrender their rabbits is a lot worst this year. Unfortunately, as the economy and disposable income goes, that is usually an indicator of how the rescues are doing. So individual donations this year are down and on top of that, recent Facebook updates have made our fundraising of posts impossible to do anymore. Thank you for your support and we appreciate the support everyone gives our great bunnies (currently over 70 in our care). #bunniesmatter #adoptdontshop

12/24/2021 - Christmas Eve day and we are so thankful for the amazing support our bunnies get every year. 176 bunnies found forever homes this year so far and hopefully we have a few more out in the next week or so. Below is Pierre, one of 3 babies brought to us that were drug to people by their cats. Luckily all three have survived (Pierre, Salt and Pepper).

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and Happy New Year to all!

11/30/ 2021 UPDATE - Just a few more hours left in #GivingTuesday A total of 168 bunnies adopted so far in 2021 and we couldn't do it without your support. Thank you from #bunniesmatterrescue #adoptdontshop

Ninja is pictured below and is available for adoption.

11/11/2021 UPDATE - 158 bunnies adopted out to date. Sandy does an amazing job finding new ways to help support our efforts to help the dumpsite bunnies. #bunniesmatter

9/26/2021 UPDATE -

Yesterday we adopted out bunny #136 for the year. Our group does amazing things because of the HUGE support we get from bunny and animal lovers. The first picture is the dumpster bunnies who were dumped in the trash. They were chipped to The Animal Foundation who did not respond to numerous attempts to contact them so we transferred them to our rescue and adopted them out. The next rescue (Jackie is pictured with her), Jackie was leaving the park and stopped to use the restroom and rescued this poor girl. Peanut our head-tilt bunny, is doing great. He is now fixed and we are starting to bond him with a girlfriend. Lastly our group was honored by the City of Las Vegas for all our groups' hard work. Our team does a great job and bunnies are a lot of work. THANK YOU for your support. We couldn't do what we do without you! #bunniesmatter

6/15/2021 UPDATE:

Well we have adopted out 87 bunnies to date in 2021. Even though we are out of funds and out of room, Jackie found room in her heart to take one more bunny in. #bunniesmatter

3/16/2021 UPDATE:

PLEASE SHARE OUR FUNDRAISER AS DONATIONS ARE VERY LOW THIS MONTH - Dolce' is one of our latest rescues. He was immediately adopted by one of our great volunteers Liz. He has an injured back leg and needs some TLC but should be good once chipped, vaccinated and neutered. #bunniesmatter #adoptdontshop

2/24/2021 UPDATE:

THIS IS HUGE! Stay tuned as the City of Henderson is set to approve on March 2, 2021, the same spay and neuter/selling requirements for rabbits as Michele Fiore helped us get passed in the City of Las Vegas 2 years ago. It is the identical language that has stopped the "irresponsible" sales of bunnies for $15 or $20 in pet shops, swap meets and feed stores in the City and County of Las Vegas for the past few years! #adoptdontshop #bunniesmatterrescue #bunniesmatter Here is the actual proposed code. It will be open to public comment via teleweb or phone and we may need your help to show support for this!!!  CURRENT HENDERSON CODE BEING REVISED  Changes to the existing code are shown below.

2/19/2021 UPDATE:

An amazing start to 2021 as we have adopted out 31 bunnies in our first 6 weeks.

The way we do rescues and adoptions is very expensive but it's the right way to do it. THANK YOU for your AMAZING and CONTINUED support!

The adoption of the amazing bunny "SOCKS" is shown below.

1/13/2021 UPDATE

PLEASE SHARE! Some amazing things are happening. Bunnies Matter is in the process of becoming an official 501c3 and signing a 5 year lease with the City to occupy our current "bunny building" in the park. We had a really rough December, spending several $1000s to evacuate all the bunnies from the park to keep them safe from the rat poisonings. Sadly, we did lose 2 sweet bunnies. If there was ever a time to donate to help us save Vegas Dumpsite Bunnies, it is now. JUST the costs for becoming a 501c3 plus the $2 Million in building insurance is well over a $1000. Please donate if you can and share if you can't. #bunniesmatter (ONYX, a beautiful surrender (below), was adopted out last month!)

10/7/2020 Update

Here are most of the bunnies that still need to be fixed. 40 are shown here (but we have a few more than shown below).

Please help if you can!!!

ORIGINAL POST:

Well, 2020 is the year that keeps on giving. Mama (Dumpsite bunny) of bonded pair "mama and papa" was diagnosed with a bad abscess in her mouth today. Her estimate is $485. We’ve gone through all the bunnies that we are caring for and while 79 of them are chipped and vaccinated to date (Floyd Lamb Park and NW Dumpsite rescued bunnies), we still have 4 more to vaccinate that are chipped and fixed (TNR bunnies), 6 more to fix and vaccinate and chip (bunnies in current medical treatment) and 39 that just need to be fixed. So that's 45 total that will need to be fixed now or very soon plus the treatment of Mama. 45 X $125 = $5625 plus $485 = $6110.

We never let ourselves get this far behind in treatments but with the pandemic and the bunny virus, it was either save them or they would have died because everyone else was basically closed. We are fully funded for the Floyd Lamb Park Bunny rescue and all of the chipping and vaccinations of all these bunnies are covered to date. This amount doesn’t include the outside TNR we’ve started in the neighborhood but that is now temporarily paused.

Please help by sharing with friends and/or donating. #bunniesmatter
