Help Us Save Two Starved Horses

Tax deductible
Through our outreach and investigations in to cruelty and neglect, Athens County Humane Society discovered these two horses in a state of extreme neglect. They were seized by our Humane Agents with the assistance of the Glouster Police Department and Athens County Sheriff's Dept.

These horses required immediate medical care so were transported directly to the OSU Veterinary Equine Center. There they have been going through an intensive nutritional process around the clock to prevent refeed syndrome. One of them has a body score of 1 (out of 9) this is due to extreme neglect and starvation. The other horse has a body score of 3 (out of 9). One is also battling pneumonia.

They are getting the care they need and are slowly showing signs of improvement. The estimate for this intensive care at OSU plus the further care they will need throughout their recovery in the coming weeks is around $4-$5,000. We are asking our supporters that are able - please help us help animals in need. We are a 100% non-profit organization - we operate through donations, fundraisers and grants. You can make a difference by donating today to Athens County Humane Society.
