Help us save Uzi

Hi everyone, it’s Meesh. Growing up, my family has always loved animals and there has never been a time where we haven’t had at least one cat in the house. My sister and I begged our mom to let us get a dog for as long as I could remember, until we brought home a little Cocker Spaniel puppy in December 2018 that would soon turn into my best friend and a beloved member of our little family.

Last week on October 10th, we were devastated when he was diagnosed with Immune-Mediated Hemolytic Anemia after being rushed to the ER. His red blood cell count was dangerously low to the point of needing an emergency blood transfusion to save his life and a 2 day stay at the hospital. To those who don’t know, IMHA is an autoimmune disorder that can spontaneously develop where the immune system attacks and destroys red blood cells.

The transfusion raised Uzi’s RBC levels to a manageable number and he was sent home with several medications, however he didn’t respond well enough and was once again admitted to the ER on Sunday, October 15th. He is once again in intensive care, receiving high doses of immunosuppressants, another blood transfusion, and getting tests ran multiple times a day.

So far, we have paid close to $8,000 for treatment. We don’t know when he will be home. We don’t know how much more we will need to pay, but we know that we cannot put a price on his life. I wouldn’t have ever thought that it would get to this point, but anyone who has had the chance to meet Uzi knows just how much this dog means to me, Niki, and my mom. He is the sweetest, most well behaved and loyal dog we could ever ask for and the thought of losing him is unimaginable.

We will do anything to get him the help he needs and will humbly accept any amount of money to help us pay for treatment, as vet bills have quickly piled up already. Our perfect first and only dog, please help us save our boy.
